Message from the chairman

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the “Athens Crossroad” Congress, which will be held on 8-10 November 2018 in Athens, at the Zappeion Megaron Hall of Athens, a historical place since it is the first building in the world to be constructed in order to serve Olympic needs. It will be a multidisciplinary event , within the organization of the 12th Congress of the Hellenic Society of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgeons, in conjunction with the 2018 ISMICS Workshop, the 14th Annual meeting of the Euro-Asian Bridge Society and the 2nd World congress of the Greek Cardiovascular & Thoracic Diaspora.

The organization of this event makes us happy for a series of events. The positive response of distinguished speakers from all over the world creates, from the outset, the certainty of a high level scientific program. Over 60 top surgeons from around the world, via lectures, workshops and interdisciplinary sessions will cove the whole spectrum of the modern Cardiovascular & Thoracic field. Greek colleagues will be able to present their work through their presentations , creating at the same time a scientific bridge which connects the pioneer surgeons of the world, and those of the Greek Diaspora, return with a sense of offer to their place of origin, strengthening their ties with their homeland.

All together, we welcome the pioneers of the “International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeons” and our neighbours from the “Euro-Asian Bridge Society“, making this meeting a global event. At the same time doctors related to our practice, nurses and students of Medicine join our efforts, while the Hellenic Society of Extra-Corporeal circulation will be organizing their 12th own meeting.

Athens will be an international scientific crossroad for 3 days to exchange experience, knowledge and synergies for our profession to evolve, through friendship and cooperation.

Additionally with the help of the local authorities we set the basis for cultural events that will take place during the congress. Athens, the birthplace and foundation of the western civilization is ideal for a historical study. A modern, yet charming, metropolis that combines the old with the new.

Our ambition is to organize an event of the highest level, bridging the global Cardiothoracic community with the Greek and our specialty with other colleagues indirectly related. We look forward to your participation and involvement for a successful congress. The Greek hospitality has always been among our core values.
