The Conference on Hepatitis B and C in Mediterranean and Balkan Countries will address the urgent need to prevent, diagnose and treat Hepatitis B and C in this large region where their burden is significant. It will present both new and existing data and permit targeted discussion with the specific objective of promoting common strategies on their prevention and management.

The Conference will support the Resolution on Viral Hepatitis adopted at the 63rd World Health Assembly in May 2010 and the broad programmes of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The event will gather major international, EU-level and national public health associations and regulators together with representatives from the participating countries including their Ministers of Health and leaders in national medical and civil society communities.

Target countries are: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, FYROM, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey.

The Conference will be held at the Nicosia Hilton Park Hotel, and will take 2 full days, starting in the afternoon on Wednesday 5th December and ending after lunch on Friday 7th December.

The Conference on Hepatitis B and C in Mediterranean and Balkan Countries is held under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the European Union.
